Concrete Recycling Plant
ideas* provided the detailed design and engineering for Alex Fraser Group’s state-of-the-art recycling facility in Laverton, Victoria. The plant set a new benchmark for industrial development and was recognised with an Engineers Australia Engineering Excellence Award in 2009.
Key Project Outcomes
- A 600 TPH facility capable of doubling recycling capacity from 20 million to 40 million tonnes of construction and demolition (C&D) waste.
- A fast-tracked, collaborative design and build completed within 10 months.
- Independent life cycle analysis (RMIT) confirming recycled concrete aggregates reduce carbon impact by 65% compared with quarried stone.
- Significant environmental benefits – every 20 million tonnes of C&D waste recycled offsets the equivalent of removing 30,000 cars from the road p/a.
- Industry recognition, with the plant ranked among the best of its type worldwide.
